In a meeting with President William Ruto, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken lauded
Kenya’s substantial contributions to global peace, stability, and climate action. Blinken’s
remarks showcased Kenya’s pivotal role on the international stage.

“Kenya, under President William Ruto, has established itself as a champion of regional peace and
security,” Secretary Blinken remarked, recognizing Kenya’s commitment to stability in the Horn of Africa and beyond.

Furthermore, the U.S. Secretary of State commended Kenya for its leadership in addressing crises
worldwide. He acknowledged Kenya’s pivotal role in leading a multinational security support mission to Haiti, pledging America’s support to alleviate the worsening situation and protect human rights in the region.

Secretary Blinken also highlighted Kenya’s efforts in resolving crises in Sudan, fostering peace in the
eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and countering extremism in Somalia.

Notably, Blinken praised Kenya’s proactive stance on climate change, saying, “Kenya is leading the climate action agenda in Africa.” He commended Kenya for its active participation in the African Climate Summit and the commitment of USD 30 million (Ksh4.3 billion) to advance climate-resilientfood security across the continent.

President Ruto expressed gratitude for the U.S. participation in the African Climate Summit and
underscored Kenya’s enthusiasm for exploring new trade and investment opportunities with the United States. “Kenya and the United States are actively engaged to deepen our relations and advance shared interests,” President Ruto affirmed, emphasizing the growing cooperation between the two nations.
