NAIROBI, KENYA NOVEMBER 23 – Milimani court on Wednesday sentenced Chadian national to a 4-year imprisonment for forgery and fraud.

The prosecution, through Virginia Kariuki informed the court that according to the pre-sentence report filed on 21st November by probation and after care service indicate the convict was remorseful of the offence.

Senior Magistrate BenMark Ekhubi agreed with the prosecution calling a total of 7 witnesses. BenMark also produced 15 exhibits and sentenced Abdoulaye to, first, a four year imprisonment without an option of a fine for having fake papers that resembles money.

“Possession of papers to resemble and pass as currency notes contrary to section 367(a) of the penal code,” Court indicated.

Second, a two years without an option of a fine for the offence of forgery contrary to section 349 of the penal code.

Thirdly, to pay a fine of Ksh400,000 in default serve 2 years in prison for the offence of obtaining money by false pretense contrary to section 313 of the penal code.

It is believed that on October 1, 2018 at Sandalwood Apartment, Westlands in Nairobi he was in possession of 54,000 pieces of forged US dollars in denomination of 100. Additionally, he had 19,000 pieces of Euro in denomination of 100 and other 3400 Euros in denomination of 500 which were forged. The total amount valued Ksh960,120,000.

“On the 9th March 2017 he is reported to have intent of defraud,” ODPP said.

He obtained $6,796 from Makau Muteke by falsely pretending that he was in a position to invest for him a business.
