Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called upon President William Ruto to allow him to work for the remaining three years of their tenure, adding that afterwards, Ruto can decide on his next move and he will respect it.
Gachagua said it’s time to work for Kenyans who elected them, calling upon members of parliament (MPs) to do their oversight role and let him and Ruto undertake the executive work.
“There are so many things that are stuck. He should let the remaining three years be a period of working for Kenyans… What he will decide thereafter will be up to him. We will respect his decision,” Gachagua said in a rally in Kirinyaga county.
He said a lot had to be done in the coffee and tea sectors as well as building roads, thus engaging in politics not suitable as of now.

This comes as MPs allied to President Ruto are rolling their sleeves to oust Gachagua for allegations of fueling the Gen Z demos.
On Friday MPs from Rift Valley alleged that Gachagua was behind the protests that rocked the country in the months of May and June. These MPs spoke in their native language, telling the residents that Gachagua had intentions to overthrown Ruto’s administration.
This also came after Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa revealed that he is going to spearhead the motion to impeach Gachagua.
Gachagua is however playing by Ruto’s playbook, which he (Ruto) used when he faced backlash and rejection from former president Uhuru Kenyatta when he served as his deputy. Gachagua told MPs to do their parliament work.
“I am asking MPs to do their parliamentary work and let the president and I do the work of the executive,” Gachagua stated.
