The fate of Kenyans seeking health care from government facilities hands in a balance as government and doctor’s union continues throwing jabs at each other.
Yesterday, President William Ruto lashed out at governors who are supporting doctor’s strike.

The head of state said that governors supporting striking doctors should pay them.
“If you support doctor’s strike, pay the money they are asking for,” Ruto said during the Third Wage Bill Conference held in Bomas, Nairobi.
Ruto pointed out that the government is working to deal with other issues and thus they find it hard to pay the doctors.
“We have a doctors’ challenge. We can hardly pay them because we have said there are real issues we want to deal with. You have leaders, like Governors, who support the doctors’ strike,” he said.

Ruto’s remarks comes barely hours after Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha told the Senate that the 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which the doctors want implemented has expired.
However, the doctor’s union said the 2017 CBA has a clause that says that the said CBA will be valid until the state signs another CBA with them.
