At least 250 youths have completed software development training through a support between The Family Group Foundation and Adanian Labs Africa.

According to a study by UNESCO by 2039, 50-55 per cent of jobs in Kenya will require digital skills compared to 25-30 per cent in 2019.

This is the second group of software to undergo this training.

However, the training focus on digital skills, software development, AI and Block chain hence equip graduates with the foundation for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The training program has empowered the youth to leverage technology for economic development while developing problem solving skills.

Nancy Njau ,the family Bank CEO expressed that the partnership aim to instill entrepreneurship and a growth mindset in the youths.
“This partnership seeks to instil entrepreneurship and growth mindset to create the next generation of innovators and creators and promote resilience of our youth to transform dreams as we create a safe, secure and inclusive digital future for the African continent,” said Family Bank CEO Designate Nancy Njau.

However,Kenya currently lacks the necessary high- level digital skills to contribute to the digital ecosystem.

The government have been investing in the digital economy to bridge this skills gap and create more opportunities for the youth.

They have allocated USD 132 million for the 2022-2023 financial year to scale up ICT infrastructure and promote service delivery.

The ICT Authority has also launched a program to train 20 million Kenyans in digital skills along with the presidential Digital Talent program.

Additionally,John Kamara the CEO of Adanian Labs stated that this program provides an opportunity to better the continent and change the ecosystem one step at a time.

“The rate of unemployment is high across Africa. The youth have dreams and this is an opportunity to better our continent,” said Adanian Labs CEO John Kamara.

With this graduation, the total number of youth who have completed the training and launched successful careers now stands at 340.
