NAIROBI,KENYA,OCT 21-The Permanent Secretary State department of Immigration and Citizen services Amb Charles Bitok has stated that the rapid result initiative has managed to release over 60 000 passports as of October 2023 and 70,629 are ready for collection.

The rapid result initiative(RRI) was a 30 day initiative launched on September 25 by the government following the 87,454 passports that were not collected from the Directorate of immigration of immigration headquarters and region.

Through a press statement,The PS noted that over 70,629 passports are ready for collection across the country and further encouraged applicants to follow up and monitor the status of their passports on the e citizen portal and on the directorate of immigration official communication portal.

“Currently, 70,629 passports are ready for collection across the country. Applicants are encouraged to monitor the status of their passports on eCitizen portal and on the Directorate of Immigration official communication channels,”The PS said.

Further the PS stated that as of October 20th , 60,567 passports had managed to be collected and an additional 43,742 passports have been printed increasing the number of passports available for collection to be 131,196.

“By the close of business on 20th October 21, 2023, 60,567 passports had been collected. An additional 43,742 new passports have been printed since the launch of the RRI raising the number of passports available for collection to 131,196,” The PS further stated.

PS Bitok further indicated the county locations where the passports are distributed as follows ;Nairobi(Headquarters) has 52,160, Mombasa has 13,594,Kisumu has 15,287,Nakuru has 11,036,Eldoret has 12,289,Embu has 15,476,Kisii has 11,354.
