Kenya Airways has announced that one of its grounded Dreamliner aircraft will return to service on July 22, 2025, marking airline’s fleet recovery efforts after a challenging period caused by global supply chain constraints and engine availability issues.

The national carrier had grounded three Dreamliner aircraft since late 2024, significantly shrinking its operational capacity by 20 percent.

With the return of the first aircraft, Kenya Airways expects to restore its capacity to 85 percent, improving travel experience and easing pressure on flight schedules.

In a customer update issued, Group Managing Director and CEO Allan Kilavuka stated that the remaining two Dreamliners are expected back in operation on September 25 and December 19, respectively.

Additionally, the airline plans to boost seat capacity further by introducing three new narrow-body aircraft, increasing available seating by 528 and expanding belly cargo capacity by 239 percent by the fourth quarter of 2025.

“This is a significant milestone for our fleet and operations, We are eager to provide our passengers with additional capacity and comfort, and we look forward to welcoming travellers back aboard our Dreamliner.”Kilavuka said..

Kilavuka further acknowledged the impact of delays, cancellations, and scheduling disruptions on passengers, assuring customers that the airline is actively addressing these issues and optimizing operations.
