Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki has called on church leaders to collaborate with the government in order to identify and expose rogue preachers. Speaking at the Pentecost Sunday Service at ACK Cathedral in Siakago, Mbeere Diocese in Embu County, the CS stated that there are many criminals and thieves that must be apprehended.
“I urge the Church to join forces with the government to unmask the rogue preachers who are using the Holy scriptures to cause harm to our people. We have already arrested Pastor Paul Mackenzie, but there are still many criminals and thieves that must be brought to justice,” he said.
CS Kindiki emphasized that neither the Constitution nor the Bible allows for rogue preachers to commit murder or theft through their teachings. “We will take the same hardline approach to combat this illegal activity as we do with banditry,” he said.
He also talked about illegal groups like Mungiki warning that they will not be tolerated while pointing an accusing finger to political leaders saying that they are trying to revive it. “The Mt. Kenya region has been greatly affected by groups such as Mungiki in the past. Political leaders who are attempting to revive this illegal group will not be tolerated,” Kindiki declared.
