Trade CS Moses Kuria

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed claims of division within the Kenya Kwanza government in the mountain region.

Speaking at the burial of freedom fighter Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima in Kinunga Stadium, Tetu constituency Gachagua emphasized that, despite differing public statements, the region’s leaders were united when their interests were at stake.

Gachagua clarified that his apparent disagreement with Trade and Investments Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria was misinterpreted by the media. He asserted that he had merely offered correction to Kuria, fulfilling his role as the senior-most politician in the region. He suggested that this interaction led Kuria and others to temper their rhetoric.

Addressing concerns about Kuria’s potential dismissal due to his comments, Gachagua reassured that such actions were not under consideration in their democratic government. He emphasized their willingness to accommodate diverse views while working as a cohesive team.

Furthermore, he pledged to bring together leaders from the region, including those who did not support the Kenya Kwanza agenda, to counter divisive elements targeting the region.

Before Gachagua’s speech, other regional leaders called for respect and support for him as the political kingpin of the region. Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga emphasized Gachagua’s role as the region’s leader, while Nyandarua’s Kiarie Bandilisha urged unity behind Gachagua’s leadership.

Former Kieni MP Kanini Keega underscored the importance of a united voice to earn respect nationally.

Regarding the high cost of fuel, the Deputy President urged Kenyans to be patient, attributing the problem to global issues. He assured the public that they were actively exploring alternative energy solutions to address the issue.

Gachagua’s speech at the burial event emphasized unity among mountain region leaders, downplayed apparent divisions, and called for respect and collaboration to advance the region’s interests.
