NANDI, Kenya, Jan 16-President William Ruto has welcomed calls by Chief Justice Martha Koome to hold talks with the Executive and Legislature in a bid to resolve what he has termed as impunity, corruption and vested interests.

The head of state who was speaking in Tinderet in Nandi county maintained that there are individuals who use the court process to sabotage the government agenda, adding that it is time the three arms of government sorted out the issue and restore sanity to those institutions

“I am going to lead from the front in the conversation between the executive and the judiciary so that we can deal with the monster that is destroying our country and the corrupt who go to court,” he said.

He averred that some individuals use the court process to bribe judges on very critical matters such as universal health coverage thus denying Kenyans of those important services.

The sentiments by the head of state comes against the backdrop of Koome expressing concern over what she terms as threats by the executive and legislature to disregard court orders amidst the ongoing onslaught on the judiciary.

Koome who chairs the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said Monday that the public declarations by the executive poses a danger to the country’s stability and the rule of law.

“These threats and declarations are extremely serious and a monumental assault to the Constitution, rule of law and the very stability of the nation and can lead to chaos and anarchy in our motherland,” Koome said.

The CJ had yesterday revealed that they are seeking audience with the president with the aim of establishing his sustained remakes over corrupt judicial officers.
