Nairobi August 7 – This week president William Ruto is expected to visit Mt Kenya region amid concerns of impeachment of his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
For weeks, members of UDA allied to DP Gachagua have been raising concerns that the there is a plot to oust the second-in-command for allegedly sabotaging the government and insubordination to his boss.
However Ruto’s allies have accused Gachagua’s allies for beating drums of impeachment which according to them is neither here nor there. Nyeri Town MP Duncan Mathenge said that the impeachment motion only “exist in Gachagua’s mind”.
“The impeachment motion only exist in the head of the deputy president and his supporters. I am in parliament, I have not been approached by any member of parliament to append any signature to any intention of impeaching him {Gachagua}.. It’s a figment of his imagination and his supporters,” Mathenge said.

Speaking to local station in his Karen resident Sunday, Gachagua said that he has not seen any motion to oust him. He argued that if there is such a motion, he has no problem with it because the president didn’t inform him that Raila’s entry to Kenya Kwanza regime was a plot to unseat him
“I have not seen that motion and if there is such a motion I have no problem if it is our Mount Kenya people who are the ones after that motion I will be so shocked because I don’t know why they would have a problem. I am speaking for mt Kenya people. I hear they want to impeach me but they don’t have the numbers. To do so they are saying they with Raila and his people in government, they have numbers to oust me but the president didn’t tell me he brought Raila to kick me out,” Gachagua said.
Some speculators have said that Ruto is going to Mt Kenya to test Gachagua’s popularity at the time their relationship is at its lowest. However reports from the statehouse claim that Ruto is going to launch development projects in the region.
It’s a wait and see who is fooling who in Ruto-Gachagua fallout even as Gen Z protests are expected on Thursday where some political pundits have linked the war in the presidency as a plot to divert attention from Gen Z demands.
