President William Ruto has Congratulated the newly inaugrated Senegal President Faye Diomaye.
Ruto took to his X account to share his congratulatory message saying that Diomaye is a visionary leader.

Diomaye 44, is the youngest president in the continent.
“Congratulations Bassirou Diomaye Faye on your decisive election victory. Your visionary leadership is
inspiring and sets an unmatched example for emerging leaders. As you assume office today, we
undertake to work with you to escalate Kenya-Senegal ties for our shared prosperity,” Ruto wrote on X.
From prison to presidency
President Diomaye was released from prison two weeks before elections together with his political ally
and opposition leader Ousmane Sonko.
Diomaye takes over from the outgoing president Macky Sall.
He won the elections with 54 percent of the vote cast, promising to uphold the rule of law and to fight
corruption and to better manage Senegal’s natural resources.

“Before God and the Senegalese nation, I swear to faithfully fulfil the office of president of the Republic
of Senegal,” Diomaye said.
Two wives
Diomaye who was sworn in in Dakar in absence of the outgoing president is a polygamous man. He has
two wives.
