The motive behind the assault was attributed to the alleged adultery committed by their mother.

Following the attack, the injured  were rushed to Bukedea Health Centre IV for immediate medical treatment.

“They picked pangas ,attacked ,hacked their mother and her manfriend, critically injuring them. The attack was as a result of adultery by their mother. The two victims were rushed to Bukedea Health Center IV for treatment,” police report added.

Expressing his dismay, Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga condemned the violent act, describing it as a serious abomination.

Enanga emphasized that mothers deserve respect from their children regardless of the circumstances.

He suggested that instead of resorting to violence, the brothers should have approached their father, clan leaders, local elders, women leaders, the church, or the Police Child and Family Protection Unit to address their concerns about their mother’s behavior.

Enanga highlighted that the brothers’ actions appeared to be premeditated, driven by anger and rage.

“It is a serious abomination. Mothers deserve all the respect from their children, no matter the circumstances. In this very incident, the sons who are now on the run , needed to bring their concerns, to the attention of their father, clan leaders, local elders and the police Child and Family protection act,”Enanga said.

As a result, the police have issued warrants for their arrest on two counts of Attempted Murder.

The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Onenge Andrew and Opio Ivan to come forward and assist in their apprehension.
