NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 15 – Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has proposed the regulation of Airbnb in a bid to avert death cases that are currently on a rise in those facilities.
Omanga through a post on her X account (formerly twitter) she averred that the facilities have become a danger to young girls who are lured into them and ultimately murdered in cold blood.
“With the rise in cases of homicide in Airbnb, the need for proper regulation of this sector by the government has never been more urgent. These facilities have no doubt become deathtraps for young girls, and we have an obligation to stop this menace,” she posted.

Omanga’s sentiments come in the wake of an incident where the body of a middle-aged woman was found dismembered and stuffed in a dust bin in Roysambu, Nairobi county over the weekend.

The incident was reported by a property manager of the guest house who alerted police on the discovery of blood-stained bedsheets on the staircase. The lifeless body would later be discovered by police, stashed in polythene bags, pointing to a likelihood of the perpetrator’s attempt to conceal evidence.
It comes barely a week after socialite Starlet Wahu was found murdered in an AirBnB in South B, leading to the arrest of a man she had checked in with identified as John Matara.
Police suspect the unknown man murdered the unknown middle-aged woman by “chopping her into pieces and stuffed the remains into polythene bags and disposed the remains off in the dustbin”.
