DCI have arrested 9 employees of a saving and credit Sacco over suspected fraud of Ksh160 million, among then four senior officials.

The employees of the said Njiwa Sacco which belongs to a staff of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), were arrested by a joint investigation conducted by the detectives and officials from the spy agencies.

The DCI identified the 9 suspects among them 4 senior Sacco officials which include, Amos Kipchumba, the internal auditor, Violet Wali, the Loans manager, Caren Langat, the Accountant, Hamisi Zaunga, System analysts and Miriam Nthenya.

The other 5 are Nicodemus Osiemo, a teller, Eric Rono from Sure-Step System, Moses Ntoinya an officer at NIS and Tony Wabomba a former employer of the Sacco. Three other suspects have gone into hiding and the detectives are on their lookout.

The DCI says that Moses Ntoinya who is an officer at NIS colluded with the Sacco staff to siphon the funds.

The DCI says, “The agencies involved in the investigation of this high-level fraud shall continue to investigate and expose corrupt individuals and networks, while taking concrete steps to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of public entities.”

The Sacco has dismissed the 9 suspects and they are facing nine counts which include: conspiracy to commit a felony, stealing by servant, false accounting by servant, negligence, computer fraud, forgery, uttering a false document, access with intent to commit and offence among other charges.

They shall be arraigned in court on Monday, 25th of September, to answer the crime they committed.
