Detectives have initiated a manhunt for suspects involved in a robbery that took place on Friday evening in Juja, Kiambu County.
The targeted victims were a Chinese couple who had withdrawn a significant sum of Ksh4 million from a bank in Chiromo, Nairobi. The assailants, disguised as police officers intercepted the couple’s vehicle on Bob Haris Road.
According to the DCI, the suspects forcefully gained entry into the victims’ vehicle and made off with the substantial amount of cash. The daring heist occurred as the Chinese couple, who owned a local quarry in Kiahuria, Juja were on their way to their destination. The interruption came when a white Toyota Axio with the license plate KDD 189P intercepted their vehicle.
“But as they were driving along Bob Haris road, a white Toyota Axio registration number KDD 189P intercepted their vehicle before the five thugs jumped out of the car and forcefully gained entry into their vehicle, making away with the cash,” DCI stated.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the five thugs, including the suspect depicted in the provided image, brandished weapons and overpowered the bewildered couple. The brazenness of the criminals has left the community shocked and fearful.
Local law enforcement agencies in cooperation with neighboring jurisdictions are diligently working to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen funds. The investigative team, comprising dedicated detectives is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the suspects.
