Detectives on Thursday last week arrested a local DJ known as Brown Skin who has been on the run after he was summoned by police to record a statement in relation to his wife’s death.
Michael Njiiri (DJ Brown Skin) had been summoned by detectives to shed more light into the death of his wife Sharon Njeri, 33, who ingested poison as he was recording on the night of July 29 and 30, last year.
The police had been persistent in their efforts to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Njeri’s demise.
The shocking turn of events emerged when a popular blogger released a heart-wrenching video tape on April 1. However, the footage, filmed by DJ Brown Skin captured Njeri’s final moments as she consumed a poisonous substance from a cup without hesitation.
Video released 9 months later
“In a heart-wrenching video tape released by a popular blogger on April 1, 9 months after Njeri’s remains had been buried, her last moments were filmed by the DJ as she emptied a poisonous substance into a cup and ingested without hesitation,” DCI said.
Moments later, she collapsed on a couch and summoned her two children to inform them of her impending demise. Tragically, she passed away shortly thereafter.
“She then slumped on a couch and called her two children to inform them of her impending death,” DCI added.
Video sent to girlfriend
Subsequent investigations by the detectives revealed that the suspect had sent the recorded video to his girlfriend residing abroad, who later divulged the information through the blogger.
Despite persistent attempts to summon DJ Brown Skin for further questioning, he remained elusive, prompting the detectives to launch an intensive manhunt, culminating in his arrest on the early morning of Madaraka Day.
Morever, the suspect is Currently held at Kasarani police station, where he is cooperating with detectives as they gather additional information from witnesses to come up with a compelling case against him.
Authorities are pursuing charges of aiding suicide and failing to prevent the same, in violation of Section 225 (C) of the Penal Code.
