In a bid to enhance airport emergency response capabilities and ensure the highest level of preparedness, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announces the successful completion of a full-scale emergency drill conducted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) this morning.

The drill, organized by KAA, simulated an aircraft incident occurring at the airport while overflying Nairobi. It aimed to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the airport’s emergency response procedures, coordination among various agencies and overall readiness of the airport’s personnel.

“We would like to assure the public that the incident was entirely simulated and did not pose any real danger to passengers, crew members, or airport operations. The safety and security of all individuals involved were strictly prioritized throughout the drill,” KAA announced.

Mr. Alex Gitari, the Managing Director of Kenya Airports Authority expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of the emergency drill. “Saftey is our utmost priority at Kenya Airports Authority and conducting regular emergency drills is a crucial aspect of our commitment to ensuring the highest level of preparedness,” he noted.

Gitari commended the professionalism and dedication of the personnel involved in the exercise.

“KAA remains dedicated to continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards of safety and security across all airports under its jurisdiction. The authority understands the significance of ongoing training and preparedness to handle any unforeseen events effectively,” the agency added.

With the successful completion of this full-scale emergency drill, Kenya Airports Authority reassures the public that the country’s airports are well-prepared to respond to emergencies swiftly and efficiently. Their commitment to safety and security remains unwavering, ensuring a secure and efficient environment for all travelers and airport personnel.
