The Democratic Republic of Congo has been plagued by conflict and chaos for decades with different factions vying for power and resources. The country’s rich resources for example copper has made it a focal point for foreign intervention and exploitation.
Political instability, ethnic tension and competition for control of these resources have fueled the ongoing violence and instability in the region leading to large emmigration of the people to other countries to seek refuge.
Last year, there was an attempt to over-throw the government led by Christian Malanga this resulted to three American citizens being caught in the middle including Malanga’s 21 year old son, Marcel Malanga ,Tyler Thompson and Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun.
After this attempt Congo reinstated the death penalty earlier lifting an old postponement, as authorities are trying to curb violence and militant attacks in the country while those involved in the military coup were executed by firing squad.
