Nairobi, Kenya Sep 28. Thika based directorate of criminal investigation DCI detectives has arrested a notorious sim swap fraudster who was found presenting himself to a Safaricom shop for sim replacement using a forged ID waiting card and a police abstract form purportedly issued by central police station Nairobi.

After a thorough interrogation the culprit named Emmanuel Kiprono led the detectives to a house in Zimmerman where a mobile phone used for registering sim cards, assorted sim replacement cards, forged police abstract forms and waiting cards bearing different names, an m-pesa till number application booklet and several id cards were recovered.

Kipronos arrest follows a similar case where Everline Alulu was arrested on September 19 after she was caught presenting herself to a Safaricom shop with forged documents seeking similar services to those of Kiprono with the sole intention of stealing from her victims mobile wallets.

Paper writings bearing confidential customer information were recovered from her house in Komarock in Nairobi.

Kiprono and Alulu are believed to be a detachment of the infamous Mulot team who target individuals with large mobile money balances and drain off their accounts.

DCI invited members of the public to partner with them to help bring crime to its knees, they further said a manhunt for several accomplices who have been named in the saga is ongoing.
