NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 23 – Over 9,000 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates who did not sit for their exams are set to do a special paper in January next year.
The announcement was made by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who announced that these are part of measures to ensure a 100 percent transition to secondary schools.
“Students who missed the November 2023 Examinations will have an opportunity to sit a special examination in January 2024,” Machogu stated.
According to the cabinet secretary, a total of 9,354 candidates did not sit for the KCPE examination this year. A total of 721,545 male and 685,017 female were the number of candidates that sat for the KCPE examinations this year.

A total of 205 students did not register for the national examination this year of which males were the highest with a total number of 125 while females were 80. A 13-year-old candidates recorded the highest number of candidates in the 2023 national exams totaling up to 123859.
