Nairobi, Kenya, Feb 16 – Britam has unveiled its Britam Biashara Network targeting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) empowerment in the country.

The company seeks to achieve this by providing access to resources to the MSMEs. Britam says it seeks to cushion the MSMEs who grapple with limited access to finance as well as markets with has led to closure of a number of them.

The company’s CEO Tom Gitogo averred that MSMEs play a critical role in the country’s economy with a contribution of over 305 percent to the GDP alongside employing millions of Kenyans.

This forum will serve as a collaborative platform, bringing together industry experts, professionals, and peers to address key challenges and share invaluable insights for business success,” he said.

Gitogo emphasized the need for SMEs to embrace technology, digital marketing as well as e-commerce to bolster their profit margins.

On her part, Kenya Association of Manufacturers Head of Consulting and Business Development Joyce Njogu emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in thinking anchored on assisting Key an MSMEs beyond local markets.

“To assist Kenyan SMEs, we must think beyond local markets and embrace both regional and international opportunities, including the EAC, COMESA and African free Continental Trade Area markets,” said Njogu.
