Safaricom PLC has announced a scheduled maintenance for its M-PESA system on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The maintenance is part of Safaricom’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services and ensure a seamless experience for its customers. The company has strategically scheduled the maintenance during late-night hours to minimize inconvenience.
In a statement seen by JEDCA MEDIA Safaricom said that during the maintenance window, customers may experience intermittent access to certain M-PESA services. These services include Lipa na M-PESA (Paybill and Buy Goods), international money transfers (Western Union), M-PESA Global, as well as the M-PESA and mySafaricom apps. However, all other services, including voice calls, data, SMS, and other M-PESA functionalities, will remain operational.
“The planned maintenance is aimed at enhancing the services to meet customer expectations,” Safaricom said. “We are continuously innovating and enhancing our services to connect our customers with endless possibilities.”

Safaricom has assured its customers that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability and efficiency of its services. The telco also apologized for any inconvenience and appreciates the understanding and patience of its customers on that day.
The telco said it’s going to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its systems to enhance customer service and for sustainability purposes. This will include deployment of predictive models and intelligent solar solutions across its sites to optimize energy use and support the company’s sustainability goals.
This scheduled maintenance is part of Safaricom’s commitment to providing superior customer experiences by continually innovating and enhancing their services. The company has previously conducted similar maintenance activities, always aiming to schedule them during periods that would result in the least disruption to its users.
