242 bodies found and still counting, Shakahola massacre

The third phase of the exhumation practice in Shakahola forest, Kilifi county will resume today.

Speaking on Sunday, Interior cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said the process had required a fourteen day break to permit pathologists to lead the postmortem assessments on the 129 bodies that had been exhumed.
“We have lost many individuals and uncovered 242 bodies so far, of individuals who were starved to death, hit with gruff and sharp objects or choked,” he said.

Kindiki spoke during a church service at the Kenya Assemblies of God in Sagana JKirinyaga county.
However, 91 individuals have been rescued including one who died in hospital and 19 victims have been reunited with their loved ones.
A sum of 93 DNA tests have been gathered and 34 people linked to the incidence have been captured, including the chief leader Paul Mackenzie.

CS Kindiki likewise cautioned rebel preachers, saying they will face the law.

“We will never see something to that effect. Simply the manner in which we handle lawbreakers concealing under Islam, we will similarly manage those concealing under Christianity. So they don’t stain the church,” he said.

CS kindiki also added that the government will likewise go after those concealing in different religions.

“All the crooks and criminals who are hiding in the church of Jesus Christ, and those in concealing in other religions your time is up we will clear you out,” Kindiki said.
