KCB Foundation through 2Jiajiri Scheme has joined forces with Kisii County Government to provide technical and vocational education to 1,000 young people in the region. The programme aims to empower the youth by enhancing their skills.
According to KCB Foundation, the initiative will increase job prospects and foster entrepreneurship throughout the area.
Together with Kisii County Government, KCB Foundation has invested Sh50 million to finance the scheme.
The training will encompass various sectors, including Construction, Manufacturing, Carpentry, Electrical Works, Hospitality, Automotive Technology, Home Services, Sustainable Agriculture, Personal Care, Information Technology, and Arts.
Joblin Omari, KCB Foundation’s Programme Director, highlighted the importance of skill acquisition for young individuals.
“Although Kenya has made substantial strides in narrowing the skills gap, there is still an urgent need for opportunities that directly lead to self-employment and business creation, particularly in rural areas,” Omari noted.
The 2Jiajiri initiative will be facilitated by NITA-certified TVET institutions based in Kisii, ensuring that participants receive relevant, top-quality training suited to the local job market.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati expressed his pride in the programme, saying, “I am proud that this initiative is not only equipping our youth with vital technical abilities but also supporting the growth of local micro-enterprises by providing strategic skills in high-demand fields, access to funding, and securing their success.”
After completing the programme, participants will receive specialized toolkits for their respective trades, allowing them to smoothly transition into entrepreneurship or small-scale businesses.
Since its inception, the 2Jiajiri programme has disbursed Sh259 million in loans and provided 918 business startup toolkits across the country.
In addition, the scheme has trained 22,959 young people and supported 5,594 businesses through KCB’s business development services, making a substantial contribution to the growth of entrepreneurship in Kenya.
