NAIROBI, KENYA, JAN 8-Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza has acknowledged his family’s innocence and has denied the allegations of her son’s arrest and involvement, in the murder of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Addressing congregants in Meru, the Governor rebuked those who had spread the claims cementing she was together with her sons in church.

“There are those who are spreading rumors that my son has been arrested, those are pure lies. My children are steadfast and are together with me in the church,” she said.

The Governor said that if any of her family members are found to have any involvement in the murder, she will personally hand him/her over to the authorities.

“If there is anybody in my family that will be needed, I as the governor, will take him/her to wherever he is needed and answer all the questions,” she said.

On Friday, the  Governor’s brother was among the five suspects arrested by the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) for the murder of Sniper.

The five suspects; wants Kenneth Mutua, Fredrick Muriuki, Franklin Kimathi, Timothy Kinoti, and Murangiri Kenneth were arrested in Meru County.

In an application filed at Kiambu Magistrate Court, the DCI wants them detained for 21 days at Muthaiga Police Station to enable the DCI sleuths to conclude investigations.

The five suspects lured the Meru blogger through a phone call that Meru Governor Mwangaza whom he was criticizing politically wanted to meet him for a truce.

The deceased travelled from his home in Igembe South to meet the five suspects in Meru town and thereafter went missing prompting his family to raise alarm.
