Interior CS Kithuri Kindiki has given a stern warning to people who will engage in corruption at Nyayo house stating that strict action will be taken against them.

Kindiki said this on his X (formerly Twitter) account saying that for the second day, monitored operations at the immigration Department and tremendous progress has been recorded.

As directed yesterday, Kindiki gave an order that no person will be allowed to hang around the precinct of Nyayo house and security officers will strictly enforce law and order, apprehend any person soliciting for bribes from applicants of passports and other citizenship documents.

“The ongoing policy and operational reforms at Nyayo House will be extended to all immigration offices countrywide, to facilitate efficient service delivery,” Kindiki said.

He further stated that zero tolerance to corruption is non- negotiable and all persons seeking services at the immigration Department must be treated with courtesy adding that emergency desk has been established to expedite the processing of passports for applicant seeking medical care abroad, students destined to learning institutions abroad and persons who have secured job opportunities in foreign countries and have reporting deadlines.

“Expectant and lactating mothers, parents or guardians accompanying minors, the elderly and persons with disability will also be accorded special attention at the immigration desks,” he charged.

The CS also added that as they work to address the finality, the production challenges through acquisition of modern printing machines, recruit additional immigration officers in improve the department infrastructure, all efforts and man power has been deployed to clear the passport processing backlog within 14 days.
“(I) Visited Nyayo House, assessed progress in implementation of reviewed operations, commended immigration officers who are diligently serving citizens and appealed for patience from applicants as we fix the systemic challenges that have for years, hampered service delivery in the Immigration department,” he said.
Issues of passports at Nyayo house has made many give up on their dreams as they end up not getting passports, certificates and other important documents. The government should take thorough action to end corruption in the country.
