9th July- Nairobi Africa is of the most vulnerable regions to climate change, requires immediate attention and support. With droughts, floods, and extreme weather events wreaking havoc on communities, millions of lives are at stake. According to PACJA and ACSEA, Recent studies indicate it is likely that the true costs of adaptation will be substantially higher than originally projected and will require creative financial mechanisms and substantial engagement with the private sector to meet.
“Through YAF, we will mobilize the potential of Africa’s youth population to drive positive change on the ground and in the policy Arena, we will organize campaigns, events , workshops, trainings and dialogues to educate ourselves and others about the importance of adaptation finance,” Said Eugene Enforngwa Director ACSEA.

At the 36th Summit of the African Union, the Heads of State requested the African Union Commission to support a broad-based and participatory process for the development of Africa’s common position on climate change that will include women, youth, the private sector, civil society, academia and governments, which aims to shed light on the urgent need for a fair adaptation financing mechanism, allowing Africa to effectively cope with these adversities.
