For the past few months many cases of robbery with violence have been reported in Nairobi and have become a threat to citizens safety.
In one of the cases, the detectives have apprehended a suspect who was involved in a violent robbery incident captured on CCTV along Ngong road in Nairobi. The viral video footage which has been circulating on social media for several days showed a foreigner being robbed of her sling bag by a gang of robbers who escaped from a motorcycle.

“In a footage that has made rounds rounds on social media for several days, a robber captured robbing a foreigner of her sling bag and escaping on a motorcycle as a second pillion passenger,” DCI said in a statement.

The DCI deployed a team of detectives to pursue the well-coordinated gang that had been targeting pedestrians on walkways. Through surveillance, Samwel Ndungo Waweru was identified as a member of the gang and was subsequently arrested. The gang is believed to have established its base around MOGAS petrol station along Jogoo Road.

However the police are still on the hunt for Waweru’s accomplices who have been identified and now on the police radar.

Last week, another incidence of a Chinese couples that had withdrawn Ksh4 million cash from a bank in Chiromo were intercepted by assailants disguised as police officers. They forcefully gained entry into victim’s vehicle and made off with the cash.

“As they were driving along Bob Haris Road, a white Toyota Axio registration number KDD 189P intercepted their vehicle before the five suspects jump out of the car and forcefully gained entry into their vehicle making way with cash,” DCI stated.
